Self-Consumption Optimisation

In the context of the global shift towards prioritizing renewable energy sources, particularly solar and wind power in Vietnam, the term ” Self-Consumption Optimisation” refers to maximizing the use of energy generated from renewable sources (like solar power) by using it directly without passing through the public grid.

To achieve this, VAS engineers will estimate and install an Energy Storage System (ESS) for customers to store excess energy produced from renewable sources after supplying the load.

BENEFITS FOR BUSINESSES

  • Harness, store, and utilize more renewable energy
  • Save costs by reducing the purchase of high-priced electricity (peak hour rates)
  • Decrease dependency on the EVN grid and mitigate annual electricity price hikes

Lower costs of purchasing high-tier electricity

If companies decide to generate their own electricity from renewable energies, they often have to turn to the energy provider to expand the grid transmission point so that electricity can be fed in. The energy provider will then invoice them for the costs, which can reach up to EUR 200,000. By using an energy storage system, you can avoid this expensive upgrade and save cold, hard cash.

Developing green energy is encouraged by the government and banks with loans up to 70% of the project value. Additionally, the PPA model, funded by clean energy funds, allows businesses to buy electricity at a discount without upfront investment.

If your business operates 24/7 and uses renewable energy like solar power to reduce energy costs but still needs a stable power supply to meet daytime peak loads, contact VAS for solutions!

How the Solution Works

WITHOUT STORAGE SYSTEM

The “Self-Production – Self-Consumption” policy promotes renewable energy development, but its growth is not as robust as the 2018-2020 period, which allowed selling electricity to the national grid. In the new period, EVN will not purchase surplus electricity generated by renewable energy systems. This leads to excess energy being curtailed by the Zero-Export solution, wasting potential benefits.

WITH STORAGE SYSTEM

A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will store excess energy generated from renewable energy systems, releasing it when the load is high or when electricity prices are high, either manually or automatically based on business preferences.

With a storage system, your business can increase, store, and use more renewable energy, boosting the proportion of renewable electricity used in production. This enhances competitiveness, especially in markets demanding green certifications.
